HAPPY 2010!

I hope everyone partied hard and made it out alive! We had a really awesome New Years and another nice relaxing long weekend but Im glad to be getting back to my normal routine =) Im really excited about 2010, Ive got a few art projects on the go and some new ideas to work on. Ive also set some goals that will be taking me out of my comfort zone so it will be interesting to see what comes into fruition!

For now I have a new series to unveil! FAIRY SILHOUETTES This will be an ongoing series which means that I will be making more! Each Fairy Silhouette is numbered on the back (for you collectors out there) and totally ready to hang! Sofar the series consists of 5 paintings done on 5x7 canvas panels mounted on my trademark custom mounts. The finished piece measures 8.5 x 10.5. As the series progresses I will be evolving it so you can expect to see poliptychs and various sizes as well. There will be a degree of uniformity because my intention is for them to look great either individually or when hung together.

These babies are up on eBay in buy it now format, for more details or to buy, click here.

Now, I know it seems a bit early, but I wanted to make sure that this painting and its products were ready in lots of time to be delivered to you by Valentines day!

The original is up on eBay in buy it now format (with the make an offer option available!), for more details, to buy, or to make me an offer, click here.

I have also made it into a card, perfect for the not so sappy Valentine! Click here to check it out.

Hey everyone,

I hope everyone had a very safe and happy holiday! We had a nice long 5 day weekend which allowed me to relax, eat a lot of goodies, and also get lots of work done! Ive started a new ongoing series that I will unveil in the new year and I also finished my last painting of 2009. I surpassed many of my art goals this year, I painted 108 ACEOs, 60 full sized paintings and did 5 shows! Now Im working on setting goals for 2010 =)

This year also marked the beginning of few things for me. I launched a number of new products including cameos, glass lockets, keychains, Christmas ornaments, chainmail pendants, voodoo babies etc. I also started making my own ACEO prints. This was all very exciting for me because as much as I love to paint, I also love tinkering with all things handmade =)

I opened a Zazzle shop which has made my art available on a number of unique items such as mugs, cards, postage stamps, pins, magnets, stickers etc., a fun and exciting way to collect art! I was also truly impressed by Zazzles quality. I have done create your own products with other companies before and been thoroughly disappointed so Zazzle was really a great new endeavor.

I also recently opened a shop through ArtFire. They are a smaller lesser known site similar to Etsy (both of which are just like eBay but for handmade items and supplies only) and sofar, I could not be more impressed! They allow artists to list and sell absolutely free! This allows me keep my prices very low! eBay charges to list and sell so it makes overhead significantly higher.

As most of you know, I try really hard to keep my art affordable and have something in every price range, Its very important to me that everyone have the opportunity to collect and enjoy my art =)

As for my latest painting...He was so much fun, I had a blast painting him! A bit different from my usual but certainly not lacking in my trademark style...

I have called it A Gentlemans Madness. He is up on eBay in buy it now format with the make and offer option available. Im not offended by low offers! Id rather sell it for less than have it sit a collect dust ;)

For more details, to buy or to make me an offer, click here.

To see all of my currently available pieces click here.

To check out all my handmade merchandise, click here.

Dont forget about ***FREE WORLDWIDE SHIPPING*** valid until 11:59 on December 31st! All regular shipping charges will be reimplemented as of 12:00 on January 1st 2010.

2009 has been an awesome year for me as an artist and I owe it all to you guys! Thank you for supporting what I love to do I look forward to what 2010 will bring!

Magick & Blessings ;)

Hey everyone!

I have been so busy getting my new ArtFire shop up and running that I havent made any time for painting. I realized last night that I havent painted anything in over a week! So I started one last night...

Lemurian Zombie will be up on eBay in buy it now format (with the make an offer option available) for the next 30 days. If you buy her before midnight on December 31st I will ship her to you absolutely free!

For more details, to buy, or to make me an offer, click here.

Ive also got a couple new ACEOs up. This first one is a relist because the buyer didnt pay so its a second chance for anyone who was interested =) The second one is the first print of one of my recent paintings.

Both of these are up for auction style listings which end in 7 days. For more details or to bid, click the individual images.

To see all of my currently available pieces, click here.

Ive also added a bunch of new stuff to my ArtFire shop this week! To see whats available, click here. I will be adding extra goodies to the next 3 orders and shipping them free until the end of December so buy now! ArtFire is just like eBay but for handmade items. You dont need to be a member to shop there and they accept Paypal which makes it just as secure as shopping on eBay =) There are a bunch of well known, spectacular & reputable artists on there so come check it out!

Ive already got a new painting in the works as well as another ACEO series...I will be posting WIPs to my Facebook page as progress happens so check it out!

Oh ya, I did promise a favorite recipe with every post until Christmas...Hmmm...…

Chocolate Blizzard Cookies

(Do not eat too many of these at once, they are deadly...)

2 1/4 Cups Flour

1 Cup Butter

3/4 Cup Brown Sugar (Packed)

1/2 Cup Sugar

2 Eggs

1Tsp Baking Soda

1Tsp Vanilla

1/2 Tsp Salt

1 Package (225g ) White Chocolate Chips

1 Package (225g ) Milk Chocolate Chips

1/4 Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips (Melted)

Mix the first 10 ingredients together leaving the 1/4 Cup melted Chips aside. Once mixed, work in the melted chips in with a wooden spoon to create a marbled effect (dont overmix) Drop dough onto cookie sheet with spoon and bake the 375 for 10-12 minutes. I like to take the pan out half way through (6 minutes or so) and bang it on the stovetop so the dough falls, this makes them really chewy =)

Enjoy!

Warmest holiday blessings to all ;)

Hey everyone & happy holiday season!

Tis the season to be uber busy! I hope you are all taking time to enjoy the festivities =) This year were making all of our Christmas gifts and Im just about done! We thought it would be nice to put a little more thought and a little less money into the spirit of giving. Besides, it leaves more money to help the people who really need it =)

Id like to give a big shout out to all the crazies who came out in the blizzard to see my show! It really meant a lot to see you there so thank you for all the support and for making it even more successful than last year =)

This is usually where I would start telling you about a new painting…not today! Ive been busy working on other things =) Most of you are familiar with my work as a painter, but I actually do a lot of other things too. It is also important to me that money doesn’t prevent my fans from collecting, so I try really hard to have something fun and exciting in every price range.

I will be offering FREE WORLDWIDE SHIPPING for the remainder of 2009 so that means when you buy a $5.00 item, your grand total is $5.00. No hidden fees, taxes or shipping costs (tho exchange rates do apply).

Now, this is where I have some explaining to do. When I was trying to list one of these new products on eBay I was appalled by what they were going to charge me. I normally just sell art on eBay, so I wasnt aware that different product categories are charged dramatically different fees. I didn’t want to raise my prices so deleted my listing immediately and went back to the drawing board. Then a friend suggested a site called ArtFire (Thanks Antwanyce <3) I had purchased smoothly through this site before and had an account but Id never listed anything. Well here goes, and sofar Im tre impressed!

Ive listed 7 new items 4 of which are brand new, never-before-available!

Click the individual images to see the listings or click here to visit my shop =)

I know people like to use the tried and true sites which is why eBay is so popular so Im offering some incentive. For the first 5 buyers in my Art Fire shop, I will throw in some free goodies with your shipment! You can still use paypal which means that your purchase is as secure as it would be on eBay. I also accept money orders for those who dont like to shop online. To check out some of my feedback as a seller click here.

Thank you for all of your support as I start this new shop! <3

I will still be selling my paintings & prints through eBay with free worldwide shipping (til Dec 31st, 2009) to see what I have available, click here.

And, as always, you can buy from me directly, PM me at magisterian@hotmail.com =)

Now, I do believe that I promised to share some of my favorite holiday recipes...I will be posting a new one with every update until Christmas =)

Pumpkin Spice Bread

2 Cups Flour

1 Cup Packed Brown Sugar

1 Cup Pumpkin Puree

1/3 Cup Melted Butter

1/4 Cup Milk

2 Eggs

1 Tsp Vanilla (I always add a bit more)

2 Tsp Baking Powder

1/2 Tsp Baking Soda

1/2 Tsp Ginger

1/2 Tsp Nutmeg

1/2 Tsp Cinnamon

1/4 Tsp Cloves

1/4 Tsp Allspice

Now, Im not an anal baker, I dont mix the wet and dry separately or add them together gradually or any of that nonsense...I mix everything together in one bowl as I go. I have successfully made loafs and muffins with this recipe:

Loaf

Bake at 350 for 50-60 Minutes

Muffins (medium size)

Bake at 400 for 20-22 Minutes

Use a toothpick to test

I do recommend buttering the top and sprinkling with brown sugar =) mmm...

ENJOY!

Magick & Blessings ;)

Hey guys,

I was busy creating all weekend! I made some Christmas gifts, 3D mixed media schtuff, I experimented with a new triptych mount for ATCs and of course, did some painting.

All of these new pieces are a bit smaller than my usual because I like to try and have something in everyones price range.

First, Ive got 3 new original Christmas themed ACEOs.

Each of these festive ladies is up for a regular 7 day auction which ends the morning of December 6th. For more details or to bid click the individual images.

Next, I have something a bit different...I love these beautiful little creatures and around here they seem to be getting bigger; 5 inches long sometimes. Spectacular! So I just wanted to play with this piece.

It will be up on eBay in buy it now format (with the make an offer option available) for the next 30 days. For more details, to buy it, or to make me an offer, click here.

Finally, something more in my traditional vein. For those of you who follow my Fanbook you got the lowdown as it happened, and thanks for your suggestions, I got some great ideas for new paintings! This one was inspired by a girl at my art show last weekend, she had the raddest hair!

She will be up on eBay in buy it now format (with the make an offer option available) for the next 30 days. For more details, to buy it, or to make me an offer, click here.

Anything that hasent sold by Friday will be coming with me to the Christmas show this weekend.

I am offering free worldwide shipping for the remainder of 2009. So now is the time to buy!

Morning all!

Ive got a cat strewn across my lap as I attempt to write this out so please understand the extra amount of effort Im putting fourth ;) And, *ahem* excuse the typos =)

My first Christmas show went really well this past weekend, I sold a bunch of paintings and met some very cool people. There were also some nay sayers...(as is to be expected). I fully understand that my art is not for the masses, most art isnt anyway. And I certainly cant deny that in this tight knit, overly religious community there are bound to be some sneers, some people avoid eye contact all together and quicken pace as they pass.

What I do find thoroughly amusing are the comments from the kids...

One little boy about 8 or so approached somewhat fearfully asking his Mummy: are these evil girls? Another girl about 8 or so came up with her blackberry asking if I had a website, I gave her one of my cards and she proceeded to ask if I was left handed (which Ive never before been asked) and started telling me about how left handed people are more creative. She proceeded to ask me about what inspires me, making other intelligent remarks and inquisitions. I couldnt believe how precocious she was! My favorite tho, which kinda just blew me away, was spoken from a girl no older than 3...She came up looking somewhat scornful, put her hands on her hips and said: thats just DEVIOUS. A 3 YEAR OLD! Her Moms reply was: Ya, I know...she has quite the vocabulary.

No kidding! =)

While I was at the show I was able to get a number of painting ideas sketched out (which was nice because the idea and the sketch are often the hardest part) so I was able to get back to work very quickly yesterday. I had most of the day to paint and was able to get a new piece finished! Those of you who follow my Facebook page got the updates and in progress pics. She is called Cobalt & Cobblestone.

She will be up on eBay for the next 30 days in buy it now format with the make an offer option available =) I will be offering FREE worldwide shipping for the remainder of 2009 so buy now to get in on the savings! For more details, to buy or to make me an offer, click here.

I also have a few originals and Christmas ornaments here.

Want to get his update sent straight to your inbox? Email magisterian@hotmail.com with SUBSCRIBE in the subject line. I will never share your email address or info and you can safely unsubscribe at any time =)

Ill be working on ACEOs for the rest of the day and I promised Lucian we would make pumpkin cookies! Ill be sharing some of my favorite recipes (of which this is one) closer to the holidays so keep an eye out!

Magick & Blessings to all ;)

Hey everyone!

The holiday season is certainly upon us and the Christmas spirit is building! The spirit of the season is by far and away my favorite part of Christmas <3

My car was run over earlier this week which put a bit of a kink in my productivity and it looks like its going to be a total write off =P What a PITA! I love my car and it has been sooo good to me, I really dont want to look for a new one...

I also got some holiday baking done this week =) I love homemade goodies and I love collecting good recipes! Ive got a bunch of tried and true recipes for banana loaf/muffins, pumpkin spice loaf/muffins, carrot cake, pumpkin cookies, chocolate chip cookies, and the best cookies ever!!! (They will kill you =\ Quite seriously!) I freeze portions of this batch because we have no self control and they make our hearts hurt! ...yes, literally!

Other than that, I have been focused on Christmas stuff because I have 2 art shows in the next 2 weeks! I will be at the Elks Hall 62 Elizabeth St. Okotoks, Alberta on November 4th from 4-9 and November 5th from 10:30-4. I will be selling prints, ACEOs & originals, some of which are custom framed by me! This show runs in conjunction with Light Up Okotoks so Elizabeth Street will be buzzing with promotions & events!

I am also excited to announce that from now until 11:59 pm on New Years Eve, I will be offering FREE WORLDWIDE SHIPPING! This is the biggest discount Ive ever offered making it an ideal time to buy! The prices havent changed, just the shipping costs =)

Finally, I have a new painting to share =) She is called Holiday Greetings, and appropriately so because she is the poster girl for my holiday greeting cards! Ive got them available in both greeting & post card format and you can order as many or as few of these cards as you want through my Zazzle shop! (they start at only $1.70) Ive also turned her into a postage stamp!

She will be up on eBay for the next 30 days in buy it now format (the make an offer option is always available too!) with FREE WORLDWIDE SHIPPING! For more details, to buy, or to make an offer, click here.

I also have holiday ornaments available here.

I look forward to seeing you at the show!

Hey guys,

It feels like forever since my last update! I was uber busy for a while there but now things are settling back down so I can resume my usual painting schedule. Ive been working on a commission for the past few days but I was able to crank out something to put up on eBay! Its not my trademark style but it is very Halloweenie! Its just a small 5x7 piece but its very affordable!

It will be up on eBay for 30 days or until someone buys it. I no longer offer auction style listings for my original pieces but you can always make me an offer! I do consider all submissions and I am not offended by low offers. Just click the Make Offer button beneath the Buy It Now Button on the listing page =)

For years I ached for a mentor, I had so many questions. I sought answers tirelessly and insatiably to what I believed was no avail. I used to believe that there was an all knowing incarnate being who was just waiting to give me all the answers.

There is no all knowing being, not an earthly one at least; and there are no cut and dry answers.

Life is a mystery, not just to me but to everyone. If we knew what the meaning was we wouldnt need to experience life, we wouldnt need to endure the ups and downs, the joys and heartaches. Life is a learning curve, and you are always given that which will help you evolve into the person you are meant to become. So on I sought, aimlessly. It took a number of years for my mentor to appear. My acquaintance with this person was not long, nor was it heavy or even in-depth, I call this person mentor because they answered a 12 year question:

Dont put anyone on a pedestal.

This lesson was not spoken to me but demonstrated. My mentor, while great, was not at all what I expected a mentor to be. Faultless and unwavering, all knowing, all caring and infinitely compassionate; no- My mentor was a living breathing human, flawed just like me; and yet remarkable. They were, in a lot of ways exactly what I wanted to be, and yet I knew they felt insecure and unworthy under their glorious persona. I was privy to the person behind the illusion and while it was disheartening at first, it ultimately taught me one of the most important lessons my life will bring.

We all have someone we look up to, someone who for whatever reason inspires us to be a better version of ourselves. We may admire their strength, courage, determination, creativity, ingenuity or even their ability to maintain a graceful demeanor in an awkward situation.

We all have strengths, weaknesses and insecurities. The rock icon that is admired by millions, the model whos face graces the walls of innumerable fans, the superstar who seems to have it all. They all have their own faults, flaws, limitations and disadvantages. And they, like each of us have someone they envy.

I once heard a story about a woman who idolized a rock star to the point where she almost believed him to be godlike. She had every album, every pin up, she knew all the words to all the songs, she had even been to 14 of his concerts. One day she was given the opportunity to meet him, every fans dream! She would be given the chance to visit with him one on one and perhaps even...But she ultimately decided not to. She didnt want to interact with him on such a real level, afraid that it would humanize him too much. She preferred to continue experiencing him from a distance, through the smoke and glitter as an icon rather than a flawed human, the flawed humans that we all are behind the masks we show the world. Underneath our makeup, our ego, our jobs and our persona. It helps to know that most everyone has an idol, and it also helps to realize that each of us has probably, at some point, been an inspiration to someone else.

If something inspires you to be a better version of yourself I think thats great. There is nothing wrong with having idols and looking up to those with admirable qualities. But it is important to remember that theyve all made mistakes (just like the rest of us), theyve each had embarrassing moments (just like the rest of us), and they look no better than you do first thing in the morning.

I hope everyone had a blessed Autumnal Equinox )0(

Magick & Blessing to all ;)
